''When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:31-32).''
When we consider the idea of the nations being gathered together, a couple of ideas come to mind. A few months ago, eighty-eight nations gathered together in Sochi, Russia, for the Winter Olympics. In two years, we'll be looking forward to more than two hundred nations gathering together for the Summer Olympics in Rio. Others think of the one hundred ninety-three nations of the United Nations. Those who seek to bring peace and concord to the whole world. Both of these thoughts seek to promote peace among the nations while celebrating the achievements of each nation.
Only when the Son of Man comes to judge the living and the dead will there truly be peace and concord throughout the world. But no one will celebrate how they achieved this peace. How they helped it come to pass. All eyes will be on Jesus. Either cheering His arrival or mourning their departure into the eternal fires of Hell.
And when Jesus comes back, it will not be many or most of the nations gathered together. '''ALL THE NATIONS''' will be gathered before Him. And He will judge everyone according to their deeds. Have they done evil in His sight? Have they been washed in His blood? These are the questions that will be answered on that Day. May your answer be "Yes, Lord," to both. Amen.
