Monthly Theme: First Commandment
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God,
the LORD is one.
(Deuteronomy 6:4)
The first creed of the Israelites stresses the unity and the oneness of God. Throughout history, man has tried to figure out God. Throughout history, man has placed many labels and limitations on God. Many cannot fathom the idea of one all-powerful being who created everything as we confess in the Creed. They made gods of everything in life so that they could better understand God.
But God reveals Himself to be only one. He is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is the one who set the world into motion and guides it on the path He has laid out. There is no other.
We look at His majesty and power and cringe sometimes. We need not fear because He calls Himself "our God." He comes to us and makes us His people to receive blessings from His hand. Amen.
