Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God.
On it you shall not do any work ...
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea,
and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day.
Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
(Exodus 20:8-11)
God set aside the Sabbath day so that we might remember. Jesus tells us, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27). God made the Sabbath not because He was tired. God made the Sabbath because we become tired.
We need to rest. We need to recharge. We need to reflect. Reflect upon the activities of the previous week. Reflect upon the activities of the upcoming week. Reflect upon God's Word as it speaks about those activities. Reflect upon the great things God has done in the Creation of the world. Reflect upon the great things He does in our lives.
Remember the Sabbath day. Keep it holy and be blessed by Him who made it holy for you. Amen.
