I thank Him who has given me strength,

Christ Jesus our Lord.

(1 Timothy 1:12)

Strengthened

Paul is one of the strongest Christians in history. He was the greatest missionary in the first century of the Christian era. He was the Apostle to the Gentiles. It wasn't his own ability and personality that made him so effective. It was Jesus. Jesus strengthened him so he could minister and plant churches throughout the Roman Empire.

Jesus strengthens all Christians through faith. Everyone who calls Jesus Lord receives this strength. But you can only call Jesus Lord through the Holy Spirit dwelling within you (1 Corinthians 12:3). Jesus gives you the strength to withstand the trials and temptations the devil, the world and your sinful flesh. With Jesus' help, you are able to live the life you have been called to live. The Christian life of humble self-sacrifice for God's glory. Humble strength from a God who was willing to humble Himself to save you. Amen.
