On this episode of Music & Lunch , host Sean Le Marque chats with ZanoThando. Sonwabile “ZanoThando” Ngxito is the soulful and versatile crooner who introduced himself to the world as part of the “Idols South Africa, season 16” contestants.
He seeks to musically advance the diversity of South Africa by exploring his voice in different musical genres, whether hip hop, gospel, trap or afro-pop. Inspired by legends and icons ranging from Hugh Masekela, Brenda Fassie, and Lebo Mathosa. ZanoThando aims to have the type of catalogue with range and diverse sonics left behind by these legends.
His latest release “Isela” is a mid-tempo afro-pop single. Sparse in arrangement, the production is underwritten by synthesised strings and hi hats. The single’s focus is the lyrical content of the single which details the longing by ZanoThando for the one who got away with his heart.
