We review the excellent Showtime documentary on Mahmoud Abdul Rauf's life: STAND. I talk about seeing him play live both when he was an 18 year old freshman at LSU and 30 years later as one of the stars of The Big 3 league. I detail in full his being blackballed from the NBA and how he should go down alongside Muhammad Ali, John Carlos and Tommy Smith as a Black man who never compromised his religious and political beliefs.
