The Talk of Fame Podcast got the honor to chat with Maya Sikand who is the New Jersey State Director for the Youth Legislative Action Center. A lot of what they do is trying to get youth civically engaged through letter writing. Right now, She is working with her executive board to organize a voter registration drive and launch a social media project that will discuss current events in a way that’s digestible for teens! She also wrote a civics curriculum for the state of New Jersey. She is the Chief of Staff for Future Change Makers and they recently became a non-profit by working with an organization called Hack Club. They are also in the process of creating a conference for students to explore different career paths and engage and network with people in different fields! She is also the National Secretary for Lex Societas which is an organization for future lawyers. They have planned successful speaker events and are working towards creating a program for high school students to learn about criminal and constitutional law!
