Award-winning filmmaker, Monique Sorgen was raised in an international hippie house in the Castro district of San Francisco. Monique’s brutally honest and quirky comedic voice is the result of her unusual upbringing by her father, a civil rights attorney with no personal boundaries, and her mother, a French woman, determined to raise Monique bilingual and bicultural. This upbringing made Monique worldly, open-minded, understanding, and compassionate to varying points of view—which are qualities that inform her creative point of view and her characters.
