Jonathan has spearheaded an attack on the Philistines, making Saul late to the battle.
In an attempt to motivate his army, Saul places his men under a foolish oath that they cannot eat until evening, which makes them wax weaker and weaker as the day marches on.
However, Jonathan, ignorant of the oath, freely partakes of some honey when he stumbles across a bee hive in the forest - unwittingly placing himself under the curse of his father.
As Jonathan faces the death penalty, the army looks on as Saul becomes gradually more unhinged...
