This is day 223 of our journey.
The Lord laments his people. They have treated the temple as if it were a lucky charm. "We have the Lord's temple, no harm will come on us!" But, the Lord does not honor people because of a temple, but rather for seeking him. They will be punished for their evil. God questions, "When people fall, don't they get back up? Why do my people refuse to turn from their sin and repent?" Finally, he relents, "What else can I do?", I will "purify them in the fires of affliction".
