Day 237 of the podcast, reading Lamentations 1-2 NET, read along at:

https://netbible.org/bible/Lamentations+1-2/

This is day 237 of our journey.

The book of Lamentations was written by someone that survived the seige of Jerusalem.  It is a collection of five poems lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem.  These laments recognize the justification of the judgement received but, at the same time, continue to pray for God to recognize their distress and comfort them.  Each of the first four chapters are acrostic poems.  Today, we see Jerusalem lamenting as a mother who has lost her children.  She grieves with no one to comfort her.

Join me in Lamentations 1-2 express your grief and despair to the compassionate Lord!

Key verses:

Lamentations 1:1

א (Alef )  Alas! The city once full of people now sits all alone! The prominent lady among the nations has become a widow! The princess who once ruled the provinces has become a forced laborer!

Lamentations 2:17

ע (Ayin) The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his promise that he threatened long ago: He has overthrown you without mercy and has enabled the enemy to gloat over you; he has exalted your adversaries’ power.

All Scriptures are from the NET.
