Day 238 of the podcast, reading Lamentations 3-5 NET, read along at:
https://netbible.org/bible/Lamentations+3-5/
This is day 238 of our journey.
We continue today with 3 more poems of lament. Lamentations 3 is longer than the other chapters, with 3 verses for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It also contains the only hopeful statement in the book: "The Lord’s loyal kindness never ceases; his compassions never end. They are fresh every morning; your faithfulness is abundant!" Lamentations 5 breaks the acrostic theme as if the author can't contain his turbulent emotions enough to think through the proper lines. The last two verses of the book are a cry for deliverance, and a cry of despair: "renew our life as in days before, unless you have utterly rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure."
Join me in Lamentations 3-5 and take courage in the faithfulness of the Lord!
Key verses:
Lamentations 3:24

Lamentations 4:11
כ (Kaf)The Lord fully vented his wrath; he poured out his fierce anger. He started a fire in Zion; it consumed her foundations.
Lamentations 5:19
