This is day 281 of our journey.

Matthew 27 tells the account of Jesus' crucifixion.  He is taken before Pilate, the governor, and while Pilate can find nothing deserving punishment in Jesus, the crowds demand his execution and Pilate gives in to them.  Jesus is beaten and mocked and hung on the cross to die.  The Son of God suffered in agony on that cross.  But, at his death, the temple curtain, separating man from God, was torn in two!  Because of his sacrifice, we are no longer condemned to live our lives apart from God!  Three days later, Matthew 28 records the account of Jesus resurrection from the dead!  Jesus defeated death!  He appeared to his disciples and left them with the command to continue to spread his teachings to people throughout the earth.  Best of all, he promised that he would always be with them!

Join me in Matthew 27-28 to grieve at Jesus' death, but rejoice at his resurrection and the new life it brings to us!

Key verses:

Matthew 27:51

Just then the temple curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks were split apart.

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
