When I revamped my website earlier this year we decided to do away with bikini before/afters - why? They are easy click bate friends. Instead I decided to do video testimonials from clients who have had SUCCESS in many ways outside of just their physical appearance.
This past weekend a dear friend sent along an IG reel produced by Dove - about a girl who had suffered an eating disorder which was perpetuated by her access to her phone and accounts on social media. It brought me back to when I was 10 years old and started my own insecurity and suffering journey...but at the time there was no internet, no Instagram held in my hand to have me comparing my body only mean boys & girls picking on me or the monthly teen magazine telling me to eat 1200 calories and run.
In this episode I share why I took down all of mine and my clients before/afters (yes you may still see some bikini pics of me but they are either involved with my lifting or explant journeys). It goes hand in hand with my post on why I think "what I eat in a day posts" are toxic.
We can and need to do better with our messaging - because our kids are watching. If you have children, small humans who look up to you as a role model, if you experienced bullying as a child for your weight or if you are on your journey and feeling triggered by before/afters you may find this episode helpful.
