In this episode I contemplate why to buy organic produce with my special guest Lisa Thompson - The detox and curly hair QUEEN.
After healing her own body in a natural and holistic way, she’s now extremely passionate about educating people on how to heal their body from the root cause and live as healthy as possible.
We both believe it’s important to consider where your food comes from and how its grown. Conventionally farmed produce is sprayed with chemicals which in turn ends up in our body, causing it to have to work harder to naturally detox and limiting our in-built healing capabilities.
If buying completely certified organic produce is not achievable for you right now you can try following the dirty dozen and clean fifteen.
This guide is compiled by the Environmental Working Group each year using research conducted by the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on 46,000 samples of produce annually.
(Important to note that samples are tested for pesticides AFTER they have been prepared for eating, meaning they have been washed and when applicable, peeled.)
The dirty dozen are the most highly sprayed with toxic chemicals and therefore are the ones that are most important to buy organic.
The clean fifteen are the least toxic and therefore can be purchased conventionally if needed.
