Elizabeth Butler BSc FCA Personal Profile Elizabeth (“Liz”) Butler FCA is a very experienced chair and non-executive director. She worked for Price Waterhouse as an audit manager on a number of prestigious clients before starting her own accountancy practice, specialising in business start-ups. In addition, she has a developed a portfolio of non-executive roles, she is currently:
• Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Regulator of Social Housing;
• Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee for the Royal British Legion;
• Non-executive director of Connect Health Ltd.;
• Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Committees of the General Dental Council and The Bar Standards Board.
• Special Advisor to the World Federation of Medical Education
Previously she has been Chair of Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, Bromley PCT and Queen Mary’s Sidcup NHS Trust; Board member of Hyde Housing Association, and Chair of their Audit Committee; Chair of the Audit Committees of the Royal College of Nursing, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the Electoral Commission and a member of the audit committees of the Local Government Boundary Commission for England and the General Medical Council.
Liz is a founder member of the University of Exeter Alumnae group, supporting female graduates through their professional careers, she has mentored several BAME managers on the NHS Next Director programme and regularly coaches and mentors aspiring directors. Liz brings a wide experience of corporate and clinical governance at board level. She is an accountant but also draws on her wide experience to challenge and engage with trustees, directors and managers. She is well connected and has an extensive network of contacts across the NHS the Third Sector and Government.
