This compelling conversation with Adaeze Oputa Anu is such a treat. We begin by acknowledging the second anniversary of the #EndSARS protest where over 40 protesters lost their lives at the Lekki Toll Gate. Adaeze then shared an overview of her early life in Lagos which was filled with love but also filled with pressure from the weight of public perception. Our conversation then flowed towards the safe space HBCUs provide and we briefly discussed The Woman King movie. No spoilers so no worries. Adaeze shared her challenges balancing motherhood and marriage and how she is best able to make it all make sense. We also took a deep dive into some of Adaeze's passion projects- Empowered Black Girl and Thrive for Blacks. Overall, it was a such a convivial discussion and I learned a lot from our exchange and hopefully you will as well. Adaeze is clearly a boss-able to hold it down at home, blaze trails professionally and make a positive impact with everything else in between. A queen. We hail.
