Spooky October continues to haunt! Hear the tragic story of Sophia Vaile, prominent in Independence, Missouri high society in the late 19th century (along with her husband, Col. Harvey Vaile). The Vailes wanted to bring the swanky artistic flair of Europe to Independence, but their success unraveled when servants blabbed about a scandalous art piece in the bedroom! Sophia died of loneliness, scandal and stomach cancer in 1883. And some say her ghost roams the local cemetery!
Happy spooky October, everyone!
