Description

Acts 20:29-32

This is the second in a two-part series on the role of pastors in the church. If it concerns you to hear the reports about pastors and churches being involved in horrific crimes such sexual abuse, I think it will be important for you to understand what the Bible teaches pastors really ought to be doing, and why churches must insist that their pastors be people of integrity. The first part dealt with three duties of a pastor: to teach, model, and nurture. This second part deals with the fourth duty of a pastor, which is to protect the flock. Paul says the following to the pastors from the city of Ephesus: “I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be alert.”
