Description

Rape myths are prejudicial, stereotyped, and false beliefs about sexual assaults, rapists, and rape victims. They often serve to excuse sexual aggression, create hostility toward victims, and bias criminal prosecution. Masters-level mental health professional and PhD student Olivia Grella joins for our 'Clinician Spotlight' from the University of Wyoming to discuss the harsh reality of psychology and the law among rape victims. Extensive research has been conducted about the impact of rape myths and Olivia is here to myth bust false views about rape that may lead to victim blaming, shaming, and questioning of the victim's honesty within the legal system. - Content Credit: What is a Rape Myth? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_myth
