Frank Schaeffer, an American author, film director, screenwriter, and public speaker is the son of theologian and author Francis Schaeffer, and was one of the "founding leaders" of the religious right "Moral Majority" movement of the 1970's and '80's. In the mid-1980s Frank left the Religious Right, after realizing "how very anti-American they are," a theme he explores in his autobiography, Crazy For God. In his 2014 book, Why I Am an Atheist Who Believes in God, Frank describes himself as an atheist who attends church every weekend and prays, but does "not always believe, let alone know, if God exists."
