In our very first episode of The Cutaway Podcast, we chat with the amazingly talented Barry Duffield about Spartacus, half-naked men, his interesting face that got him his first TVC, the seedy underworld of acting, and stealing Movie Posters out of the local Cinema... and that's just the first half!

Barry was a young boy growing up in Australia's Northern Territory when he fell in love with all things cinematic. His first job was as the projectionist in the Nhulunbuy cinema. It eventually led to a successful career as an actor, screenwriter, and now the author of his first graphic novel Deadman's Land, Tandoori Apocalypse, and Hellion Rising.

He began his acting career in 1987, a career highlight was playing Lugo on the highly regarded and successful ‘Spartacus: Blood & Sand" TV series.  Barry graduated from South Seas Film and Television School in 1997 with a degree in screenwriting and directing.  In 2009 he was selected for the New Zealand Film Commission First Writers Initiative and served on the New Zealand Writers Guild Board as the Northern Regional Representative.

His first novella "The Nowhere Man" is due out in 2022.
