There's a lot of it around - both physical and emotional, manifesting in all sorts of ways. As a cancer patient, over the last six years I've had my fair share.
Pain isn't an absolute thing - it depends a lot on our experience of it and how we feel about it, as to how much it hurts. In modern times, we make rather a big deal of it and avoid it like the plague. We've come to regard it as a mental health condition. No, it's part of life.
It doesn't have to be like that. Even so, it still hurts.
