I had a duodenal switch procedure performed on October 16, 2020. On the day of my surgery, I weighed in at 338 lbs. As of January 18, 2022, I weigh 191 lbs, for a total of 147 lbs lost. At my heaviest, I weighed 348 lbs, but I was likely 350+ for a few years. I avoided the scale a lot those days.
A duodenal switch is basically a gastric sleeve coupled with a rerouting of the small intestines. Roughly 75-80% of my stomach was removed, then my small intestines were shortened and reconnected closer to my colon.
