Do you know the difference between forgiveness and consequences?
Here’s a little story to illustrate:
A pastor is driving down the road — and speeding. He gets pulled over by a police officer, who lets him know he was going 12 mph over the speed limit.
The pastor replies, “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize how fast I was going. Would you please forgive me?”
The officer returns to his car, then comes back smiling and says, “Good news, Pastor — I forgive you… and God does too! And here’s your ticket.”
Forgiveness and consequences — side by side.
This week at CrossWalk Church, we return to our message series in Genesis. As we rejoin the Lord with Adam and Eve, we’re reminded that God promised a Savior. He forgave them.
But alongside that forgiveness came real consequences.
Still, God didn’t abandon them — He blessed them in their pain.
Let's celebrate the God who forgives us completely and walks with us through the consequences of a broken world. He is still blessing, even in our pain.
The sermon entitled "The Consequences of Sin" was preached by Pastor Dan Solofra at CrossWalk Church, in part of the “Genesis: the birth of God's people" message series.
