Some people think the account of The Flood in the Bible is a myth. Others think it's a description of a mean and angry God.
As we continue our message series in Genesis, and we will go through the account of The Flood. We will see how The Flood is part of God's story of rescue, renewal, and redemption from sin.
Did you know that that New Testament has several passages about The Flood?
Jesus uses Noah and the flood as a lesson about the end times (Matthew 24).
The book of Hebrews talks about Noah placing his faith in God when warned about things he had not seen yet.
1 and 2 Peter tell us several things about The Flood...
- God was patient in dealing with the people
- Noah preached to the people about sin and grace
- The flood symbolizes baptism
- The flood demonstrates how corrupt sin makes people and the world...and how we need saving from the punishment of our sin
- God always saves those who look to him for saving
As you can see, God has a lot to tell us through the account of The Flood. Let's unpack this account, together.
The sermon entitled "The Flood" was preached by Staff Minister Phil Bischoff at CrossWalk Church, in part of the “Genesis: the birth of God's people" message series.
