Why run?
The number one reason is to stay healthy and be at a good weight And hopefully live longer
Another reason is to be outside and explore New Paths or parks
To compete with me and have an edge by participating in races
It allows me to have the discipline to stick to a schedule And be consistent
Having friends to run with is therapeutic and very healthy
It sharpens the mind so much that it opens doors of possibility because of grit and gratitude
Even if you can't run with your friends you can create plans to be together and meet up at a race
Ways To start running and have success
Start very slow
Use the Phill Maffetone method to stay in Zone 2 (180-age) for your max heart rate 80% of runs
Stay hydrated (Salt Tabs, Tailwind, etc)
Put one or more races on your calendar per year
Find a running schedule to follow for your race
Recovery is just as crucial as running (sleep, stretching, ice-baths)
Find the right shoes and socks for the type of running you will be doing
Apply anti-chafing ointment for your longer runs (Salty Britches)
Use Strava
Post pictures or videos
Celebrate your victories along the journey
