On this episode, Coach discusses two recent quotes about education from Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and President Biden, what they would actually mean in reality, and supporting parental rights. Science has shown us that a child's prefrontal cortex, the area most responsible for not acting rashly and making logical decisions isn't fully formed until we are in mid 20's (which explains a lot of stupid things I did in my teens LOL). Since this is the case, who is the better guide for a kid, a teacher, guidance counselor, social worker, or their parent?
Coach's creed that I know a lot of teachers agree with:
My class is filled with STUDENTS. I teach history with a little bit of respect & perseverance among other things thrown in.But at the end of the day., they are other people's CHILDREN. As a teacher, I MUST respect that line, and expect my daughter's teachers to do the same.
