Rethinking Rubrics LMD Ep 05. In this episode, we discuss rubrics and how they can, unfortunately, limit deeper learning. Research shows that the students will all too often focus on satisfying the requirements of the rubric rather than focus on the learning outcomes. We suggest that while it is important to give students guidance in meeting course outcomes rubrics shouldn’t become so prescriptive that they simply lead to information regurgitation or checking the items off the list.
