So, today, we learn “why” God sent an “Angel”
to guard the entrance to the Garden after evicting Adam
and Eve (Gen.3:24).
We know that God planted “2” distinct “Trees”
in the Garden (reserved for special purposes). Therefore, He commanded His beloved children
not to take the fruit of one of those trees, saying,
“Of every tree of the garden
you may “freely eat” – but of the “[Tree of the knowledge of “Good” and “Evil]”
you shall not eat – for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely “[Die]!”
(Gen.2:16-17).
So, let us learn “Why” God ordered them not to take
fruit of this tree of “Knowledge of “Good” and “Evil.” This was a
“test” God set before Adam and Eve –God wanted to see if
His children would “Obey” Him – and they “Failed” the test
in “Obedience!” – they did not honor God’s command, and they did eat
the fruit of the forbidden tree.
Had Adam and Eve been “Obedient” to the
voice of their Creator, and passed the test God set before them,
He would have also allowed them to “Eat” from the “Tree of Life” and
gained (Eternal Life)! But since
they did not, God then had to block their passage to the “Tree of
life!” Listen to what He says:
“Then the “[Lord God]” said, “Behold,
the “man” has become like “[One of Us],” – to know “[Good]” and “[Evil]!
And now, lest he put out his hand and
“[Take also],” of the “[Tree of Life]” and “[Eat]” – and “[Live forever]!
(Gen.3:22).
So, it should be clear now that the
one tree, (“The Tree of the “knowledge of “Good,”
and “Evil” represents “Disobedience” and “Death” as a
lesson for us! And the other tree, “[Tree
of Life]” represents “Obedience,” and the reward of “[Eternal
Life]!
So, Adam and Eve, now having blown their chance of ever accessing the “Tree of Life,” thereby
obtaining “Eternal Life,” – God provided a way for them, and us (centuries
down the road), through the “Sacrificial death of Jesus Christ” they now had another chance to access the “Tree of Life” (located in their original home “(The
“Garden” of Eden)”
Understand that by Jesus giving his life for us on the
Cross, He earned the right to gain Power over Death! That power was now in His hand.
Prior, Satan, the Devil, had control over death. But after His death, Jesus “Took the
“Power of Death” away from Satan.
