Jezebel was a “Phoenician” by nationality. Phoenicians occupied a narrow tract of land along the coast of modern Syria, Lebanon and Northern Israel. Phoenicians also descended from Noah’s son “(Shem);” who carried the “Tan” Middle Eastern complexion. So, Jezebel was a woman of color!
Although Jezebel descended from Noah’s son, “Shem,” – she “did not” descend from either of the “12” Tribes of Israel.
Understand that the Middle East did not consist of the ppl of the Nation of Israel, only – but of many peoples (same as today).
Actually, the Nation of Israel was the “Smallest” of all the other nations, and they literally were “Fewer” in number in comparison (Deut.7:6-7).
They were the weakest of nations (with no army of any significance to defend themselves; (Judges 3:1-3). It is the “Almighty God, Himself” who separated this small nation, and made it a “Great Nation” through his own “Power” and “Will,” and not their own (Deut.8:17). So, Jezebel was not Hebrew; but descended from a foreign nation.
The story of “Evil” Jezebel:
The story of Jezebel can be found in the “11th” book of the Old Testament Bible (1 Kings 21). This is a woman of “dishonor” in the Bible.
Jezebel is the most “EVIL” and “VILEST” of all woman in the Bible!
During the timing of Jezebel, Israel had become “Divided into “2” separate Kingdoms (Tribe of Judah and the Tribe of Benjamin) remained as “one” kingdom (controlling the Southern kingdom Judah) – while the “10” other tribes controlled the [Northern Kingdom] of Israel. Each had their own “[king].”
The [Southern kingdom of Judah] honored “All” of the Laws and ordnances handed down by Moses: (holy days, rituals, ordnances, and commandments).
But the [Northern kingdom] changed the Laws of Moses, and began to worship idol gods – mixing pagan customs with Judaism (defiling their own religion). Their unrighteous kings were evil, and they led the entire “10” tribes of Israel into idolatry (worship of foreign gods). This how the original “10” tribes eventually lost their identity. But we still have bloodline, dark-skinned descendants from the “Tribe of Judah” (still living in Israel), “Today” – as seen in the profile pic in this group!
One of the laws stipulated for Israel to honor was “not” to marry women outside of their Nation (unless the woman converts to Judaism).
Jezebel was not “Hebrew,” and did “not” convert to Judaism when she married “King Ahab!” Jezebel was associated with false prophets!
She dressed in finery and wore heavy makeup (Unlike women of Israel). This led to the association of the use of cosmetics with "painted women" or prostitutes!
As a result of her pagan ways and culture, Jezebel influenced king Ahab to worship her idol gods (Baal and Asherah).
King Ahab went so far as to establish an altar for Baal (idol god) in Samaria (capitol city).
King Ahab’s background:
Jezebel incited her husband “King Ahab” to abandon the worship of God and promote the worship of the deities Baal and Asherah on a national scale.
Since “[King Ahab],” inherited the “Northern kingdom” from his father King Omri. He had brought the “[Northern Kingdom]” of Israel to great power, and established “[Samaria]” as his “Capital.”
Therefore, Jezebel was a powerful, Evil woman who sat as “[Queen]” of the Northern Kingdom Israel. As such, she committed abominal evil acts.
Jezebel ordered the “Prophets” of God to be “Massacred!” She also personally organized the “Execution” of “Naboth” (a law-abiding landowner), because her husband, King Ahab, coveted his land (1 kings 21).
For these “Evil Acts” against “God” and the people of Israel, Jezebel met a “Gruesome Death.” She was thrown out of the window by members of her own court. And the “Flesh” of her corpse was eaten by “Stray Dogs,” (1 Kings 21:23-25).
Note:
The name “[Jezebel]” has such an (evil) connotation to it, no loving mother ever names her daughter “[Jezebel]!
“But there was no one like “(Ahab),” who sold himself to do “[Wickedness]” in the sight of the Lord, because “(Jezebel)” his wife, stirred him up,” (1 Kings 21:23).
Lesson learned:
The most important Lesson we should learn is that when we “stray away” from God’s authorized Bible, and embrace other version of it (the devil will use that error, to draw us away from God) – just as he did with the “10” Tribes who strayed away from God’s “Original” commands handed down by Moses – these “10” tribes, eventually, began to worship other gods, and their “kings” became seduced by wicked women who led them into idolatry.
The seduction of beautiful women also happened to king Solomon, and he had more wisdom than any other living human being, but he did not foresee that by disobeying God (marrying foreign women who “did not” convert to Judaism) would influence him into idolatry, either, but it did!
So, for men, in particular, be aware of the women you date, or marry – if you are “Unequally Yoked” RUN! Run fast as you can!
