“Ruth”- One of the “2” books in Bible dedicated to women!
And one of the smallest books (only “4” chapters).
However, the story of Ruth covers many other interesting
characters – mainly, her mother-in-law (Naomi), and a rich landowner
named “Boaz,” (who later became Ruth’s husband).
Ruth was a Moabite by nationality (not an Israelite);
therefore, not identified through any one of the “12” Tribes of
Israel. But Ruth was a woman of color,
a descendant of “Shem” (Noah’s Middle Eastern complexion son); as were
all the people of Moab.
However, Ruth became an Israelite through marriage
– same as the wives of Moses, Joseph, Simeon and Judah (they
all married Black women)!
Even though the men of Israel could not marry inter-tribally
(Num.36:5-10), they could, however, marry any woman outside of their nation
(as long as the woman converted to Judaism (their religion and
culture). So, Ruth fell into this
category.
