Bill's choice is out of bounds from what is normally covered on this show, but it contains crime AND a guy in a gorilla suit! 1930's the Unholy Three, featuring Lon Chaney in his only talkie and last film before his death, is discussed this week. Four petty thieves from a circus sideshow -- ventriloquist Professor Echo, strong man Herman, dwarf Willie and pickpocket Rosie, whom Echo loves -- run away from the show and establish themselves in a small town. There they open a pet shop, which they use as a front to gain access to the homes of wealthy patrons and steal from them. When Rosie is attracted to shop worker Hector, Echo's jealousy threatens to consume them all.
