Description

This weeks episode is the first of two parts about the powerhouse of 90's metal, Pantera.

But first the guys kibitz about work, Amazon and Aldi warehouses and the uncomfortable aspects of putting your kids in youth sports.

John goes on about how his son's soccer coach sounds like Anne Ramsey, how kids get sick surprisingly, and how most parents hate kids sports but don't admit it.

The conversation then turns to Pantera. The guys talk about the early years of Pantera without their signature sound with Phil Anslemo, the horribleness of glam rock, and how the first album pushed through the scene despite grunge becoming mainstream, and how Guns N' Roses and Metallica helped Pantera become kings of power metal.

Next, the guys play a couple of rounds of guess the metal lyrics featuring Pantera songs, talk about which song is the "Enter Sandman" of Pantera, the abrasiveness of their lead singer, and the impact that "Vulgar Display of Power" had on the metal community.

This is part one of a two part series dissecting the influence that Pantera had over the metal scene.

Stay tuned for part 2!
