In this episode we discuss Babak Jalali's latest film, Fremont. Though it may not be a town most people are familiar with, Fremont is a place that is near and dear to our hearts for several reasons, chief among them being it's Megan's hometown. The film follows Donya, an Afghan refugee who struggles to adapt to her new life. Donya is played by first time actor Anaita Wali Zada. This is a beautiful film that tackles topics such as trauma, guilt, war, and immigration without ever sensationalizing these issues. The film also features cameos from Boots Riley and Jeremy Allen White.
On the note of cameos, this episode includes an unplanned cameo from Seth's dog Cooper. We edited this best we could but there's still some barking in this episode so please bear with us.
