Loya Haughton is a remarkable 25-year-old Jamaican who overcame financial hardships as a child to become a proud recipient of the prestigious 2022 Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, a European Funded joint masters programme that turned her dreams into reality. She's presently pursuing a European Masters in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence.
Her journey to academic excellence was filled with ups and downs but she refused to allow her circumstances to limit her potential. She shares her touching childhood experiences, with stories of teachers whose kindness and support played a pivotal role in providing her with daily lunch. She recounts how an alumna from her high school Immaculate Conception High came forward as a guardian angel, offering vital assistance during challenging times.
Her academic achievements is awe-inspiring. At Immaculate Conception High she earned 11 subjects at CSEC examinations with Grade one profiles and was the highest ranked female in the region for Computer Science. at the CAPE Level.
She's a U.W.I Open Scholar and holds a First Class Honors degree in Computer Science and Mgmt Studies from the University of the West Indies.
Loya was also a nominee for the Prime Minister's Youth award in 2017
