It’s time for more short track racing as the Cup Series makes it second visit to Richmond International Raceway for a night race. Would Richmond produce the same short track Saturday night fireworks that Bristol produced a few weeks back? How would Dale Earnhardt perform after that scary medical event at the Southern 500 last week? Will Dale Jarrett pick up another short track win? He had the car to beat in the spring Richmond race until a late race restart. Rusty Wallace is always a favorite for a short track race and is looking for a turnaround in the ’97 season. He overcame an early race spin to win at Richmond in the spring. Martin and Gordon are locked in a tight points battle and both are previous winners at Richmond. Bill Elliott is on the pole and riding high after leading the most laps and finishing 4th at Darlington last week. Can he break a nearly three-year winless streak? Don’t count out Ernie Irvan the defending winner of the event or Geoff Bodine who finished 2nd in the spring. Jeff Burton with two wins already is experiencing a breakout season and wants to win in his home state. Take a listen and find out who the victor is the penultimate short track race of the season.
