The Blessed One | Minister Annbell Murangi

The Beatitudes. (Matthew 5)

  1. Blessed are the poor in spirit because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them. To be poor in spirit means you are at the point of surrender. Where you say yes God you have given me all this but I have nothing. And every time you wake up, every time you go to the place of prayer or every time you go to church, you are in a state where you want to be filled and fed by the spirit of God.
  2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.                                                                                          Comfort in this context comes when you bear the burden of the one who called you. Whenever you get a burden concerning God's purposes, you will get a reward. If I am thinking about the kingdom, I will be mourning because I would be wondering when will the lost souls come to the Lord.
  3. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Meekness is a sign of humility before God. And the greatest sign of humility is obedience. If I could translate it, I could say; blessed are the obedient, for they will inherit the earth. In the place of obedience, you will possess whatever you desire.
  4. Blessed are the ones who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.                                          Obedience itself is righteousness. We ought to hunger for the presence of God and thirst for His word. God told Joshua to meditate on it day at night. The devil fears people who are in the presence of God, not those with titles. That is not the language the devil understands. He understands the language of him that has completely emptied themselves and has been filled with the righteousness of God. The only way we get an identity is when we allow Him to be in us and get fully immersed in His presence.
