Franz Liszt (1811-1886) was a Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist,
conductor, and teacher. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest
pianists in history and a key figure in the Romantic era of classical
music. Liszt's influence went beyond his performances and
compositions, as he also played a significant role in the development
of the modern concert experience.
