After reading through the wisdom literature of the Old Testament, readers enter into scripture's next genre: prophecy. This prophecy, however, is unlike most common misconceptions of what it means to be 'prophetic'. While the prophets of Israel occasionally predicted the future, most often they reminded Israel of the coming judgement as a result of their disobedience to God's commands. This week, readers will pick back up in the time Old Testament narrative during the time period of 2 Kings 15-19 as they are introduced to the prophet Isaiah.
