Why it doesn't work If prices go up Why it does work If prices go down There are always work arounds to do this It is legal You can rent a home for a period of time and give non-refundable option fee to rent at a higher price than what the market price would be. Then in 1-3 years I could buy it from you. Pitfalls - what if from 1-3 years you're not ready to buy and you already gave a lot of money to the landlord - what if prices go up/ down dramatically?
