Readings for the Sermon: Matthew 5:33-37
We are currently learning together in our 6.30pm Contemporary congregation from what is known as Jesus’ ‘Sermon on the Mount’, found in Matthew’s Gospel, chapters 5-7. This is not simply moral teaching that we try or strive to attain, but a vivid picture of life in God’s new reality, the Kingdom of God. We live out this transformational teaching from a place of being loved, blessed and empowered by God. Some inspiration for this series has been taken from Tim Mackie, previous teaching pastor at Door of Hope Church, Portland, USA, now co-founder and theologian with The Bible Project.
