This episode is a bit different from others as I was asked for a final reflection on our final Creative Nonfiction class this semester, where we read various pieces we've written throughout the semester or even before that. I'm still tying it all into some scripture, of course, so here's our focus texts:
Matthew 17:19-20 (MSG)
1 Corinthians 10:13 (GNT)
Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)
Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
Regardless of what I initially was hoping for this semester, there's been so much joy in seeing how the Lord works in continuing to grow people (including myself). Was I frustrated with some of my circumstances? Yes. But the more I've seen people grow as writers and as people this semester, the more I realize that what I had planned didn't matter– the more I realized how much greater His plan is.
And among the growth I saw in myself and other people, I also saw a huge wall of writer's block completely destroyed because I learned to surrender more and more. Have I still been a little stuck here and there? Also yes, but only when I started thinking more about what I wanted to write about rather than what I was being called to write about. Usually the two are one and the same, but I'm human so that's not always the case. So I'll be talking a lot about that in this episode as well.
