They share a scholarship secret available to all University of South Alabama students and interview two guests who have received nationally competitive scholarships the Fulbright and the Gilman. Dr. Bri Ard joins the show currently in Romania fulfilling a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship and Rebecca Culberson, a recent University of South Alabama Alumna, talks about her virtual internship experience with an organization based in Morocco as a Gilman recipient.
Additionally, listeners will hear from University of South Alabama faculty and staff who provide application support for these scholarships. OIE's own Education Abroad Adviser, Ms. Jan Santos advises students on the Gilman and successfully guided nearly a dozen students receive this award. Dr. Marsha Hamilton, Associate Professor in History, advises students on a range of nationally competitive scholarships including the Fulbright, Truman, Udall, and Rhodes. Angela Jordan, Assistant Director of research development primarily serves faculty preparing proposals for external funding and she has worked on proposals funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Department of Education, and the Fulbright Program, among others.
