Description

Contradictions if well understood and managed can spark off the fires of invention. Orthodoxy whether of the right or of the left is the graveyard of creativity.”
— Chinua Achebe
#let'stalkaboutthemen
This quote is basically a summation of how naysayers may view the contemporary African Male writing. To set ground on how this series will entail,- I have opted to give a preamble in form of leading Q&A that are objectively structured in order to give us a hint from the outside looking in. Be ready to be ...
Here we go:
The first question is: What is Contemporary African Male Literary Writing? (: this is all about the Literature discourse of the 21st century Africa written by the male gender. PS- The series targets to rekindle the boy child conversations that have long been muted)
Second question: What is it about the Hashtag - let'stalkaboutthemen? Quit straight forward right?;The hashtag aims to address the idealistic perspective parallel to the realistic of what/why/how the male gender approach various topical concerns on questions of our age)
Third question: How effective will the issues be relayed and with what literary motive? The effectiveness of the series will be dependent on how the audience perceive various concerns as highlighted from the male's mouthpiece through their literary works. Herein , the literary motive will be in uncovering the themes addressed from a textual analysis and repositioning them as conversation starters.
Last but not least, will the series be taking us through the typical feminist or meninist talks? The series will be keen to not exceed such gender lines and actually offer interactive yet reflective views on how best the African Literature mirrors our Today's society thus bridging any literary gap in knowledge that may have been overlooked or overlapped.
To reiterate Chinua Achebe's words- Contradictions if well understood and managed can spark off the fires of invention. The series will focus on contradictions of the contemporary African Male writing . Solely to ensure the Literary audience understand so as to avoid limited knowledge that confines us within the walls of ignorance hence having redundant conversations that are copy pasted year in year out. Orthodoxy whether of the right or of the left is the graveyard of creativity.”
Needless to say, unorthodoxy and contradictions spark ideas rather than pinning them down.
A kind of literary discussion that opens up conversations rather than finishing them.
