Description

Welcome, one and all, to A Teenager's Take on Shakespeare; a brand new podcast where host Annabelle Higgins will be discussing different aspects of the wonderful world of the Bard with some incredible guests, and then provide a Teenager's Take on every conversation.

Approaching Shakespeare can seem daunting, given the massive hype and excitement that his name produces among actors, English teachers, and academics, but in the end, it is a really rewarding experience. 400 years of societal and cultural change have changed the way we perceive his works, and the development of the English language has meant that we've lost the 'thou's and 'thine's; still, if you go to see Shakespeare's plays performed nowadays, the audience will inevitably laugh and cry with the emotion of his stories, even if they don't understand all of the words and context.

This podcast is going to be about exploring the what, why, and how of Shakespeare's work - what makes them so impactful, why do they still resonate, and how did he achieve this? With our truly brilliant weekly guests, we hope to unpack the nitty-gritty details of all this and more, in a way that will hopefully benefit students studying the Bard for exams as much as pleasure listeners and early modern drama fans.
