In today's episode, I, host Annabelle Higgins, chat with Elizabeth Dennehy on getting into Shakespeare, transforming the text through performance, and some of the best productions she's seen of his works.
Elizabeth lives in Los Angeles with her husband, actor James Lancaster. She is an actor, currently filming Horizon, written, directed by, and starring Kevin Costner, a former Shakespeare educator at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Elizabeth is a proud alum of LAMDA and Shakespeare’s Globe Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance LAB. She is a popular audition coach, and a proud board member of the Independent Shakespeare Company in Los Angeles. Her stage credits include The Humans at San Diego Repertory, Cyrano with the Independent Shakespeare Company, A Streetcar Named Desire, Dancing at Lughnasa and The Secret Rapture at South Coast Repertory, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom at the Provincetown Playhouse NY, Henry V with Kevin Kline at the New York Shakespeare Festival, Opera Comique at the Kennedy Centre, played Donna Marsala and is an original creator of Tony and Tina’s Wedding in NY/LA. Her film credits include Hancock, Red Dragon, Gattaca, and The Game, and her TV work includes Masters of Sex, The Mentalist, Charmed, Seinfield (pronounced Sine-feld), NYPD Blue, and Star Trek the Next Generation.
