Description

In this episode, we explore the role of the 1st Assistant Director with guest Casey Price.  He shares his tool kit on set, as well as what a 1st AD is responsible for on set. This position is a love/hate job. You have to move the film forward and gently nudge everyone along.

Casey Nicholas Price is an American filmmaker who has worked in the film industry for almost 20 years. Before and during this time, he worked in management, customer service, and hospitality for Fortune 500 companies.  Casey started as a background in a low-budget independent feature film and has been chasing his passions for the industry ever since. He has worked in many positions in production over the years, including writing, directing, and producing. Casey was able to hone his skills even more while attending SDSU and discovered a high demand for first assistant directors.  Casey has continued working professionally as a 1st AD while receiving mentorship from other Hollywood working ADs. He put his time in as a production assistant on commercials, features, documentaries, and so forth to help further his experience on set and as an AD. Casey stays busy mainly working as a 1st AD with his positive attitude, work ethic, and ability to communicate clearly. He aims to work on bigger budgets in the union with the DGA.
