Description

This episode we talk with Director of Photographer and gaffer Rachael Hastings about being a run and gun for documentaries to narratives. We also talked about inclusivity and how to get more involved on set.

I've been shooting all over the world since 2004. I spent 15 years doing camera and lighting on doc style TV, docs and live events across various continents. In 2019 I switched to focus more on narrative and commercial work and work as a D.P. or gaffer/electric. As a gaffer or electric I’ve recently worked lighting on shows (Netflix, Disney Channel, Showtime, DirecTV), commercials (Gatorade, Adidas, Qualcomm, Chase bank, Urban Outfitters). As a D.P. I’ve recently done several narrative short form projects including the Women In Media films, feature docu films and have done DP or Cam Op on 12 Inclusive crewed films (BIPOC, female or LGBTQIA crew) in the past year. I’m a Women In Media member. On live events I’ve done camera, jib op and worked with rigging and lighting crews on over 200 events in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas. I live in both Los Angeles and San Diego.
