Description

In this episode, my guest Docs-Style Editor Dave Henry shares his funny stories of working on Avid Media composer for the first time and when to use music, and when it doesn’t work. Dave reveals the importance of cracking the story through the editing process and hitting those emotional beats. How he’s grown in responding to getting notes from the producers, directors, and the network.

Dave Henry is a Peabody Award-Winning and Emmy-Nominated editor with extensive unscripted experience, in reality, docuseries, limited series, short-form, and feature-length documentaries. He's edited and produced over 100 episodes across multiple cable TV outlets and streaming platforms. He has served projects on both "editing teams" - in the roles of builder, polisher, and supervising editor - and also as the sole editor, which requires much more writing and producing at the earliest stages of post-production. His work has won awards from the Associated Press, Directors Guild of America, and the Television Critics Association.

Additionally, Dave and his wife Jill co-authored The Greatest College Health Guide You Never Knew You Needed for Skyhorse Publishing, distributed by Simon & Schuster in 2021. They live in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles with their son Mac, daughter Cammie, and dog Russ.
